The TRNC Ercan airport has signed the final tender of privatization. The company who wins the bid will operate the airport for 25 years. The company who will pay 116 million euros to the TRNC in 4 years, will invest 300 million euros. The new terminal building will be built at a point close to the southern part of Cyprus. The new airport is expected to serve the southern part of Cyprus in the following years. There will be two runways. There is currently 1.5 million passenger capacity which will reach 6 million by the end of the fourth year. There are currently 600 people working at Ercan Airport, it has been announced that there will be four thousand working at the new terminal.
