University of Mediterranean Karpasia, Cyprus Research Center Seminar Series: Seminar on “Names that Left Their Mark on Turkish Cypriot History: Dr. Servet Sami Dedeçay” Held
On Monday, March 10, the University of Mediterranean Karpasia held a seminar series titled “Names That Have Left Their Mark on Turkish Cypriot History” at the Grand Pasha Hotel in Nicosia. This week’s topic was Dr. Servet Sami Dedeçay, an important figure who pioneered many firsts in Cyprus and left a deep mark on society.
The seminar also had special significance in the context of International Women’s Day on March 8. Participants found the commemoration of Dr. Servet Sami Dedeçay, a woman who was a pioneer in academic, social, and cultural fields, meaningful and inspiring.
The opening speech of the event was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Öz, Vice Rector of the University of Mediterranean Karpasia. The seminar, moderated by Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşen Berberoğlu, featured Dr. Hasan Topal, Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur, and Nazım Topcan as speakers. Participants shared detailed information about Dr. Dedeçay’s life, academic work, and contributions to the Turkish Cypriot community.
At the end of the program, speakers were presented with plaques. The event concluded with a group photo of all participants.
