The Tourism Master Plan Awaits the Parliamentary Agenda

The tourism master plan has been completed, and as a result of our visit last week to the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Erhan Arıklı, he stated that it would be brought before Parliament this week. This was a major step; bringing together all stakeholders of the country within the framework of an existing plan—and treating it as a state policy—carries even greater importance. Previously, we had also discussed this topic with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Serhan Aktunç.

The government and the opposition alike must take ownership of this tourism master plan. Regardless of who prepared it or who may benefit from it, the most important step for us is that our country benefits.

The 2026–2035 plan is truly very detailed

It is a plan that captures the country’s snapshot as a destination. According to some stakeholders, even if you create the world’s best plan, it means nothing unless it is put into practice. It is precisely for this reason that, following the updates made in 2011 to the “tourism development plan,” significant initiatives targeting the 2035 goals are included in this plan. However, as I have said, the plan must be brought onto the parliamentary agenda, and after both the opposition and the government read the entire plan and reach a consensus, it should be ensured that whoever comes to power is obliged to follow this plan to the letter. We, as trained and experienced human resources, must also take ownership of the plan and support the steps the country will take in this direction. As I always say, “when it comes to national interests, we bow our heads without hesitation; the rest is just a story. Ego, jealousy, and envy should be left aside.”
