Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mete Ünal Girgen completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Eastern Mediterranean University, and his master’s and doctoral studies in Tourism and Hotel Management at Girne American University. Having started his academic career in 2016, Girgen was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2023 and continues his academic work in the fields of tourism, gastronomy, sustainable tourism, tourism economics, human resources, digitalization and tourism management. Girgen has published numerous articles, books and book chapters in national and international peer-reviewed outlets, and has presented papers at various international scientific meetings. Reflecting in his academic work the practical experience he has gained in the tourism sector in hotel management, food and beverage services, sales and marketing, and social media, Girgen conducts research on sustainable gastronomy and tourism, local gastronomic culture, accessible tourism and new technologies in tourism. Currently serving as Dean of the Faculty of Business at the University of Mediterranean Karpasia, Girgen brings his academic and professional expertise to education, research and practice in the fields of tourism and business.
