On February 28, 2025, academics from the University of Mediterranean Karpasia organized an important panel as part of “Zero Discrimination Day.” The event, which started at 09:30 at the Grand Pasha Hotel in Nicosia, attracted significant attention with the participation of prominent figures from the academic community.
Throughout the event, various topics related to the fight against discrimination were discussed. The panel featured presentations by Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdem Ertürk and Lecturer Kader Bal from the International Cyprus University, as well as Lecturer Hakan Şonya and Lecturer Faith Umene Banje from the University of Mediterranean Karpasia. During the panel, Erdem Ertürk, Hakan Şonya, and Faith Umene Banje delivered their presentations in English, while Kader Bal presented in Turkish.
The panel was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turan Cavlan, Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Mediterranean Karpasia. At the end of the panel, Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Öz and Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşen Berberoğlu presented plaques to the speakers in appreciation of their contributions.
This event, which holds significant importance in preventing discrimination and raising awareness in society, provided participants with an in-depth platform for discussing the concepts of equality and justice. Bringing together academics and individuals from various segments of the community, the organization aimed to increase awareness about the importance of combating discrimination.
