Our university has been granted equivalence by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) for all programs listed in the Higher Education Institutions Examination and Vertical Transfer Examination guides published annually by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Our university has agreements with several dormitories.
Part-time assignments are made in academic and administrative units within our university when needed. Our students can work in academic and administrative units on campus, develop themselves in different disciplines, and gain experience.
English language proficiency is required for our programs taught in English. Students who do not pass the AKÜN Proficiency Exam will begin a language learning program at the School of Foreign Languages appropriate to their level, based on the results of the “English Level Assessment” exam administered by the School of Foreign Languages. Prospective students may enroll in the first year based on the results of the TOEFL, IELTS, or any other internationally recognized exam, following an evaluation conducted by our university's School of Foreign Languages and Student Affairs Office.
According to our university regulations, there is a 70% attendance requirement for all courses in all departments.

Application and Registration Process

TRNC nationals and Turkish citizen student candidates who have completed their entire high school education in the TRNC are placed in associate or undergraduate programs based on their success in the Student Placement and Scholarship Ranking Exam and the programs they prefer.
Prospective students holding Turkish citizenship who have graduated from high schools or equivalent institutions can apply and enroll in associate and bachelor's degree programs based on their Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) scores.

Required Documents for Enrollment in Associate's and Bachelor's Degree Programs
Students who have completed their secondary education abroad (excluding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Turkey) and wish to study at our university may apply for enrollment at our university with a high school diploma equivalency certificate obtained from the Ministry of National Education without interrupting their education.
About the TRNC
In this section, you can find basic information about Northern Cyprus, from your first arrival to transportation options and healthcare services.
Students who have newly enrolled at our university can apply for a passport before arriving. It is possible to enter the TRNC with an identity card, but our students must complete their student visa procedures (immigration) within 3 months.
During the registration week, we welcome our newly registered students with our special shuttles from Ercan Airport and Kyrenia Port. In order to benefit from the transportation service, you must inform us 48 hours before your arrival time by e-mail to info@akun.edu.tr. Our welcomed students are brought to the university campus.
Every student registered to our university, after the registration procedures, comes to TRNC and makes a payment to the Ministry of Health's account through the immigration permit system of the Immigration Department affiliated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of TRNC within the specified dates and gets health insurance within the scope of immigration procedures. If these procedures are carried out, health services can be used in TRNC.
